Samoosas folded by hand, sweets made the slow way
Eastern Essence started small — a family recipe book, a home kitchen, and a belief that Indian food in Durban should taste the way it always has. No shortcuts, no shelf-stable substitutes, just the same techniques passed down through the household: samoosas folded by hand, syrups reduced slowly, spice blends measured by eye rather than by machine.
Over ten years, that home kitchen grew into a proper production kitchen — but the method never changed. Every samoosa is still folded by hand. Every tray of mithai is still made the way our family has always made it, in small batches, tasted and adjusted before it ever leaves the kitchen.
Today, that same care goes into everything from a single frozen pack for a family dinner to a full spread for five hundred wedding guests. The scale has changed. The standard hasn't.
